IDENTITY DESIGN for B-ÜZEM WINE BAR, 2021

Role I developed the brand identity for Gilvesy Winery’s wine bar, located just minutes from the vineyards. This included designing the logo, typography system, and visual elements.

ABOUT THE WINE BAR

The bar primarily serves Gilvesy wines alongside other local selections. Open seasonally, it hosts events, cultural activities, and makers’ markets, creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere that blends a casual, hip aesthetic with elevated culinary experiences.

MOOD RATIONALE

B-üzem is designed to be a welcoming space that reflects the character of its location, which resembles a ruin bar. The graphic elements and logo are intentionally crafted to complement the bar’s raw, unfinished aesthetic while still conveying the seriousness of the wine selection.

DESIGN APPROACH

1. Designed the logo.

The logo’s typeface is inspired by the way Hungarian children are taught to write in cursive, evoking a sense of warmth and familiarity.

DESIGN APPROACH

2. Selected the house font.

PRIMARY FONT

Knif Mono AA provides contrast—its sharp angles and structured form add confidence and direction to the brand identity.

SECONDARY FONT

Founders Grotesk Condensed Bold serves as a supporting typeface, providing stronger visual impact where needed. Founders Grotesk Condensed Bold offers better legibility and weight, ensuring key information remains clear and readable across various applications.

DESIGN APPROACH

3. Curated imagery for consistency.

Images found on Fortepan are historical/old photos donated to the website. It depicts mainly Hungarian people and places and can be used freely for commercial use. I thought this was a brilliant way to cater to the small budget and team of the client. This way when needed appropiriate images can be found for use on social media, events or anything else they may be needed for.
